Our Fees

Fixed fees for divorce;

For privately paying clients, we charge £700 plus VAT and disbursements (including a court fee of £410) for a straightforward divorce with no ancillary children and/or financial issues or other complicating factors. Please contact us to find out whether this service might be available to you.

Free initial advice;

If you are not sure what your legal position may be, or what services we may be able to offer you, we will give a free 20 minute consultation on the telephone before you decide whether to instruct us formally.

We charge by hourly rate,

We charge an hourly rate and our fees are affordable and competitive. We will ensure where possible that the work is being carried out by the appropriate level of fee earner.

If your income and capital are below certain limits (which change from time to time) we may be able to advise or act for you under the legal aid scheme. This means that our fees will be paid by the Government through the Legal Services Commission.   If you are receiving certain benefits such as Income Support or State Guarantee Pension Credit, you will automatically pass the means test.

Generally we will have to carry out a means test to assess whether you are eligible for legal aid, which means that we will need proof of the income and capital of you and your cohabitant.

The rules for assessing financial eligibility can be quite complicated, and you will need to speak to one of our staff members before coming into the office to find out what documents you will need.  You can also look at the eligibility calculator on the Legal Services Commission website (www.legalservices.gov.uk).
